VAT
Value Added Tax - a tax on consumer expenditure on goods and services.
Voluntary Sector
All local not-for-profit organisations and groups (usually run by volunteers), that cater for people who form a community of place, or of interest (such as disability), considered as a whole. Also called the community sector.
Volunteering
Working (for an organisation or privately) without being paid. This can mean anything from walking an elderley neighbour's dog, to driving a community minibus, to manual labour, or to offering a professional service such as legal advice, through a community organisation. Many West Berkshire organisations rely on voluntary work to deliver much needed help to the community.
